About Us
Mission: Connecting children with nature in Idaho, from backyards to mountaintops.
WHAT IS BE OUTSIDE, IDAHO?
Be Outside Idaho formed in 2007 as part of a growing movement of local communities that responded to what many parents, educators and others were seeing in today’s youth— “nature deficit disorder”, a term coined by author Richard Louv in his seminal 2005 book, Last Child in the Woods.
Be Outside, Idaho is a coalition of over 100 diverse organizations that share resources to help address ‘nature deficit disorder’ and connect Idaho’s youth to the outdoors. Our partners include representatives from: state and federal public lands managers, wildlife managers, healthcare providers, educators, nonprofit organizations, elected officials, individuals and others.
Be Outside, Idaho! welcomes participation by Idaho businesses, agencies, nonprofits, childcare providers, educators and others who are interested in helping kids connect with the outdoors.
